What Are Lingual Braces?
Unlike traditional metal brackets, lingual braces are placed on the back of the teeth, creating a more aesthetic look that makes your orthodontic treatment less obvious to friends and family.
What are the Benefits of Lingual Braces?
The main advantage of lingual braces is that you can’t see them. In the beginning of treatment, it might be difficult to speak because the braces are placed on the back of the teeth; however, the majority of our patients get comfortable over time.
How Long Does Lingual Braces Treatment Take?
Since the braces are placed in the back of the mouth, treatment time can take longer. Please also note that appointments with lingual braces are only offered in the morning because they require more doctor time.
Why Should I Visit Lemchen Salzer Orthodontics for Lingual Braces?
We are one of the few orthodontic practices in New York City that treat patients with lingual braces. Additional training and education is required in order to provide this type of treatment.
Who do you recommend lingual braces for?
Patients who want something less noticeable.
Adults who are not Invisalign candidates.
We don’t encourage lingual braces on children.
How do you take care of your lingual braces?
Same as traditional brackets, you want to make sure to brush and floss above and below the bracket to avoid any staining and potential white spots.
Beyond the regular routine of brushing and flossing, you can also use an oral irrigation device – such as a Waterpik – to keep your teeth clean during treatment.
